Comparing Linear, Exponential, and Quadratic Models
Linear: first differences constant. Exponential: ratios constant. Quadratic: second differences constant. Context also matters: constant amount vs constant percent vs symmetric vertex stories.

Look at how it grows
A table 3, 6, 9, 12 is linear (+3). A table 3, 6, 12, 24 is exponential (×2). A table 3, 6, 11, 18 has first differences 3, 5, 7 (second differences 2) — quadratic.

The change from one y-value to the next in a table with uniform x-steps.
Example: For 2, 5, 8, 11 the first differences are all 3 (linear).

Calling any curve exponential
Parabolas curve too, but they add a changing amount, they do not multiply by a constant.
